SumpWay

Privacy Policy

Last updated 15 October 2026

SumpWay is built to hold as little of your data as possible. This page states exactly what the app does and does not do with your information — no more and no less than the app itself does.

Location

SumpWay reads your device's location, when you grant permission, to sort the bundled station list by distance from where you are. Your location:

You can deny or revoke location permission at any time in your device settings. SumpWay's Search screen finds stations by town or state name with no location permission at all. With no signal, or if the routing service cannot answer, distances are straight-line and marked “approx”, and nothing is sent.

Searching, and directions

Towns and states are searched on your phone, from data inside the app, with no network. Only if you ask to look up a place the app does not know do those typed words go to your platform's geocoding service to find where it is; your own location is not part of that request.

When you tap Directions, SumpWay opens your device's maps app with the station's position. What that app does from there is governed by its own privacy policy.

The station database

SumpWay ships with a station database bundled inside the app, built from OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, licensed ODbL). This data lives entirely on your device and is never fetched from a server at runtime — there is no SumpWay server. Settings links to OpenStreetMap's copyright page and to a public copy of the station data and the script that builds it, as the licence asks. Those links open in your browser only if you tap them, and SumpWay sends nothing with them.

Reporting a problem or a new station

When you submit a correction or add a station, SumpWay opens your own email app with a message addressed to our monitored inbox. You do not need a SumpWay account to submit a report, because there are no accounts.

The message contains what you wrote, the station's permanent map id and its coordinates (the station's, not yours), and the version of the app. It contains no device identifier and none of your own location.

Because the message is sent from your own email account, the address you send from reaches us with it. The optional “Email” field lets you name a different address for us to reply to. That address is used only to answer you about that specific report. It is never sold, never used for marketing, and never linked to any analytics or tracking.

What SumpWay never does

How long we keep a report, and how to have it deleted

Reports we receive by email are kept in our support inbox so we can act on them and answer you. They are not copied anywhere else. You can ask us to delete a report you sent, at any time, by writing to support@8086.llc and telling us which report it was — the station name is enough. We will delete it and confirm that we have. Nothing else about you is stored for us to delete.

Security

A report travels from your email account to ours, so it is protected in transit by your email provider's transport security, not by anything SumpWay runs. There is no SumpWay server, no database and no account store holding your information. The app keeps nothing on your device except your own settings.

Children

SumpWay is not directed at children. It is a general-audience tool for people travelling in a recreational vehicle, it collects no age information, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, write to support@8086.llc and we will delete it.

Payment

SumpWay is a paid app: you pay once, when you buy it from your app store. There is no in-app purchase and no subscription. We never see or store your payment information — the store that sold you the app handles that transaction, and its privacy policy governs it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address and the date at the top will change with it. It ships alongside the app update that changes what SumpWay does with your data, so the two cannot drift apart.

Contact

Questions about this policy, or about a report you submitted: write to support@8086.llc. It is the same monitored inbox the app addresses reports to.
